Mesurix privacy policy

Mesurix does not require an account and does not upload your ring measurements. The website keeps one calibration number in your browser. The app keeps saved sizes and profiles on your device. Microsoft Clarity is the website’s only third-party analytics service; it sets cookies for aggregated page behaviour, and Mesurix does not send measurement data to it.

What does Mesurix store?

The short answer depends on where you use Mesurix. The browser tools store one calibration number in localStorage. The app can store the sizes and profiles that you choose to save. Neither storage location is a Mesurix account, and neither requires your name or email address.

The browser tools calculate a physical measurement from the calibrated display. For example, the ring sizer can show an inner diameter such as 17.32 mm, a circumference such as 54.4 mm and the equivalent US 7. Those values are calculated for the device in use. Mesurix does not upload them as ring-measurement records.

The app stores selected sizes and profiles on the device so that the app can show them again. This is local app data, not a server profile. The app collects nothing that identifies the person using it.

Microsoft Clarity is separate from both kinds of measurement data. It uses cookies to report aggregated behaviour on Mesurix pages. Mesurix does not send the calibration number, a ring measurement or a saved size to Microsoft Clarity.

This privacy page covers Mesurix’s own website and app behaviour. Apple and Google have separate policies for information handled through the App Store, Google Play, their accounts, payments and devices. The Mesurix terms cover use of the service. The about page explains who publishes it. Mesurix is published by Vast Flow, LLP. Mesurix is not a jeweller.

What does the website save in localStorage?

The Mesurix website saves one calibration number in localStorage. LocalStorage is a browser feature that keeps a small website value on the device. In Mesurix, the value tells the on-screen tools how the phone’s displayed pixels relate to a physical length.

A browser cannot infer the physical size of its own screen pixels. A CSS pixel is defined against a 96 dpi reference display, not against the particular panel fitted to your phone. Two phones can therefore display the same CSS width at different physical sizes. Calibration fixes that missing part of the calculation.

Mesurix calibrates against a card because the reference has a specified physical size. An ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 card measures 85.60 mm by 53.98 mm. Bank cards, most national identity cards, driving licences and many transport cards use that format. It is the most widely distributed physical length standard in the world, which makes a card available when a ruler is not.

The browser saves the calibration number, not a photograph of the card. It does not need the card number, the name printed on the card or an account. The ring sizer tool uses the calibrated display to calculate the ring’s inner diameter. A ring size is one number: the inner diameter of the band in millimetres.

The calculation is arithmetic on the local measurement. In the US and Canada, the published conversion is:

diameter (mm) = 11.63 + 0.8128 × size

That formula gives US 7 as 17.32 mm. One whole US size changes the diameter by 0.8128 mm, or about 2.55 mm around the circumference. The browser does not need to transmit either number to perform that conversion.

The same local calibration supports the calibrated ruler and bubble level. The ruler turns the calibration into an on-screen length. The level is a display interaction and does not create a ring-measurement submission. The browser tools run entirely in the page, are free and need no account.

A localStorage value is not the same thing as a server-side record. The website can read the calibration number in the browser when the tool needs it. Mesurix does not store an uploaded card image or a ring-measurement record on Mesurix servers as part of these tools.

Clearing a browser cache is not necessarily the same as clearing localStorage. Browsers commonly provide separate controls for cached files, cookies and site storage. To remove the calibration number specifically, use the browser’s site-data or storage settings for Mesurix.

The website therefore retains one local calibration number for display calibration, rather than a card image, card identity or cloud history of ring measurements.

What does Microsoft Clarity collect on the website?

Microsoft Clarity is the only third-party analytics service used on the Mesurix website. It sets cookies and helps show aggregated patterns in page behaviour, such as how visitors interact with pages. It is not the service that calculates a ring size.

Analytics and measurement have different jobs. The ring sizer uses the local calibration number to turn a displayed outline into a physical value. Microsoft Clarity is used to understand page use. Mesurix does not send measurements, calibration values or saved sizes to Microsoft Clarity.

A value such as 17.32 mm is a ring’s inner diameter. A value such as 54.4 mm is its circumference. US 7 is the corresponding US size in Mesurix’s reference row. These are measurement results, not data that Mesurix sends to Microsoft Clarity.

That reference row is:

17.32 mm inner diameter = 54.4 mm circumference = US 7 = UK N 1/2 = EU/ISO 54 = JP/KR 14 = FR 14

The conversion itself is checkable. EU and ISO 8653 size 54 means a 54 mm inner circumference. France and Switzerland subtract 40 from the circumference, so 54 mm becomes FR 14. Japan, Korea and China use the same diameter-based number in the stated scale: n = 3 × diameter − 38, which gives JP/KR 14 for 17.32 mm after the scale’s rounding convention. None of these displayed values is sent to Microsoft Clarity by Mesurix.

Microsoft Clarity may handle information required for its own analytics service under Microsoft’s terms and privacy information. Those documents are separate from this statement about what Mesurix sends. Mesurix’s stated use is aggregated page behaviour, not ring-size calculation or a personal measurement history.

Cookies are small browser-held values. Because Microsoft Clarity uses cookies, browser cookie settings can block or delete those analytics cookies. Cookie storage and localStorage are separate. Blocking Clarity cookies does not necessarily remove the Mesurix calibration number, and clearing localStorage does not necessarily remove Clarity cookies.

Analytics does not create a Mesurix account. The ring sizer does not use analytics to identify the person holding the phone. The Mesurix about page provides publisher information and links to the wider service.

Microsoft Clarity cookies concern aggregated use of Mesurix pages; they are not a channel for sending the card calibration, ring diameter, circumference or converted ring size.

What does the Mesurix app collect?

The Mesurix app collects nothing that identifies you. No account is required. Saved sizes and profiles remain on the device running the app rather than being uploaded as part of the measuring features.

The app is free on iPhone and Android, and iOS 13 or later is supported on iPhone. It works offline. Ordinary use of the ring-size tools, saved device data, calibrated ruler and bubble level does not require an internet connection.

A saved size exists because you choose to keep it. A profile exists because you choose to create it. Those entries are stored locally so the app can present your information again. They do not turn into a server account, and neither feature requires a name, email address or other identifying detail.

The app includes every standard on one screen, a finger-measure mode, a printable sizer, the calibrated on-screen ruler and a bubble level with a set-zero step. These are app features, not reasons to submit a ring measurement to Mesurix. The app can perform its ordinary measuring work offline.

The local app data can include the sizes and profiles deliberately created on the device. Removing that data is controlled through the app or the device’s app controls. The exact menu names differ between iPhone and Android, but the storage location remains the device rather than a Mesurix account.

The App Store and Google Play may handle store-related information under Apple’s or Google’s own policies. That can include information connected with a store account, a payment or a device. Such information belongs to the distribution channel’s handling of the transaction, not to Mesurix’s saved ring sizes and profiles.

The Mesurix app keeps chosen sizes and profiles on the device and collects no information that identifies the app user.

Which information does Mesurix not collect?

Calibrating a display does not give Mesurix your identity. The browser tools do not require an account, so calibrating the screen, measuring a ring or using the ruler does not require submission of a name or email address.

Mesurix does not need a photograph of the reference card. The card contributes its known dimensions, 85.60 mm by 53.98 mm for ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1. The calibration process does not require the card number or an image of the card. A bank card is being used as a length reference, not as an identity document.

The measurement remains local to the tool. If the tool displays 17.32 mm, the value is calculated on the device from the calibrated screen. If that value is converted to US 7, UK N 1/2, EU/ISO 54, JP/KR 14 or FR 14, the conversion is still local arithmetic. Mesurix does not collect those results for Microsoft Clarity analytics.

The app does not collect information that identifies the person using it. Saved sizes and profiles remain on the device. Offline use does not send them to Mesurix. A saved profile is a local convenience record, not evidence that Mesurix knows who owns the phone.

This statement is about Mesurix’s own handling. It does not replace the policies of a browser provider, Apple, Google or Microsoft. Those companies operate services that can have their own storage, analytics, account or store rules. The Mesurix position is narrower and specific: the app collects nothing that identifies the app user, and Mesurix does not send ring measurements or calibration values to Microsoft Clarity.

There is also no photograph of a card in Mesurix’s browser calibration storage, no uploaded ring-measurement record from the tool and no identifying app data collected by the app.

How can I clear Mesurix data?

To remove the browser calibration number, open the browser settings for the Mesurix website and clear its site data or local storage. The setting may be called website data, site data, storage or permissions. The menu name depends on the browser and operating system.

To remove Microsoft Clarity cookies, use the browser’s cookie controls to block or delete cookies associated with that analytics service. LocalStorage and cookies are separate storage categories. Clear both if the aim is to remove both the saved calibration number and the analytics cookies.

Clearing all Mesurix site data may remove other local preferences held by that browser for the website. After the calibration value is removed, the on-screen tools no longer have the previous physical reference. Calibrate again before relying on a new display measurement.

Use the physical card reference when recalibrating. An ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 card is 85.60 mm by 53.98 mm. A browser reset, privacy setting or site-data deletion can change the display calibration even though the phone’s screen has not changed.

For the app, remove saved sizes and profiles through the app’s available controls. To remove all app data stored on the device, use the device’s app-storage controls or uninstall Mesurix. iPhone and Android use different wording and can handle removal differently. Reinstalling the app does not create a Mesurix account.

A display measurement has a practical limit: it is only as good as the calibration and the way the ring or finger is positioned. A screen or paper measurement is not the same reference as a jeweller’s steel mandrel. Confirm the size with a jeweller before buying an expensive or non-returnable ring.

Ring size can also change during the day. Fingers are largest late in the day and after heat, exercise or salty food, and smallest on a cold morning. The spread across one day is easily a quarter of a US size. If two readings disagree, measure again at a consistent time and take the larger size between two available sizes. The ring must pass the knuckle to go on and off; a loose ring can be tightened with sizing beads or a fitted bar, while a ring that cannot clear the knuckle cannot be worn.

Band width affects the choice as well. The trade rule of thumb is about a quarter size up from 6 mm of band width and about a half size up from 8 mm. A paper strip can mislead because paper stretches and compresses. String and paper methods can read a quarter to a half size high or low depending on how hard they are pulled.

For scale, one sheet of 80 gsm office paper is about 0.10 mm thick and a human hair is about 0.07 mm. One whole US ring size is 0.8128 mm of diameter, so it is roughly eight sheets of office paper. That is why a small calibration or positioning error can change the displayed size.

If you email [email protected], the support conversation contains the email address and message details that you choose to send. Include only what is needed to explain the issue. Do not send a card number or payment details when a description of the problem is enough. The contact page provides the same support route.

Clear browser site storage for the one calibration number, manage cookies for Microsoft Clarity, and remove app data or uninstall the app for saved device sizes and profiles.

What happens if the policy or app changes?

Mesurix does not require an account or collect identifying app data from a child or an adult. The browser tools and app are designed to work without submitting a name, email address or ring measurement to Mesurix. A parent or guardian who needs help can contact [email protected].

Mesurix may update this privacy policy when the website, app or data practices change. The version published on this page is the current version. Check it before relying on a detail about browser storage, analytics or app features.

A policy update does not convert the browser calibration number into an uploaded measurement. The browser still stores that value locally as described here unless the published data practice changes and this page is updated to say so.

The publisher is Vast Flow, LLP. Mesurix is not a jeweller. The privacy policy does not make a screen or paper measurement equivalent to a jeweller’s steel mandrel, so confirm an expensive or non-returnable ring with a jeweller before ordering.
