A reading after heat, exercise or salty food may be larger than a reading taken on a cold morning. That is a real change in finger fit. It is not a change in the ring’s engraved or listed size.

Japan uses the same scale as Korea and China in the standard conversion: diameter (mm) = 13 + (n - 1) / 3, or n = 3 × diameter - 38. US 7 is JP 14. Korean sellers may quote the same 호 numbers as the Japanese 号 scale, but some Korean shops use 호 for circumference in millimetres instead. Look for a millimetre figure next to the number before treating a Korean listing as a Japanese-scale size.
Band width can require a larger fit. The trade rule of thumb is about a quarter size up from 6 mm of width and about a half size up from 8 mm. A wide band covers more of the finger, so use the wide-band ring size guide rather than copying the size of a narrow ring.
